German Museum of Technology
The German Museum of Technology stands on the former goods yard of Anhalter Bahnhof, in Kreuzberg, occupying two historic locomotive roundhouses and several other buildings. Its extensive railway collection, opened in 1987/88, is spread across 33 tracks and displays locomotives such as the Prussian S 10 and the DRB Class 50, as well as documenting the railway's role in deportations during the Holocaust. The aviation section, in an annexe opened in 2003, exhibits numerous historic aircraft, from a Jeannin Stahltaube to a Junkers Ju 52, an Arado Ar 79 and a Messerschmitt Bf 110, along with a V-1 and wreckage from an Avro Lancaster. The museum also houses the Science Center Spectrum, an interactive space for exploring scientific phenomena, and outside has two mills (one German, one Dutch), a brewery and a water-wheel-powered forge. Admission includes access to the permanent and temporary exhibitions, with reduced rates for groups and under-18s.
