Statue of Diana, Princess of Wales

The statue of Diana, Princess of Wales stands in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace, in London. It was commissioned by her sons, Princes William and Harry, and designed by sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley. It was unveiled on 1 July 2021, on what would have been Diana's 60th birthday. The bronze figure shows the princess surrounded by three children, representing the universality and generational impact of her work. The garden around it was redesigned by Pip Morrison and includes more than 4,000 flowers, among them forget-me-nots, Diana's favourite flower, roses, tulips, lavender, dahlias and sweet peas. In front of the statue, a stone bears an extract from the poem The Measure of a Man by Wallace Gallaher. The work has drawn mixed opinions from critics, ranging from harsh criticism to praise for capturing Diana's character.
