Las Matildes is an interpretation centre set up in a mine in the Cartagena-La Unión Mining Range, at the Mina Blanca site in El Beal. It is run by the Fundación Sierra Minera. It belongs to the group of mines around El Beal that were used to drain the mining basin, and it explains the marks that more than 2,000 years of mining have left on the range's landscape, heritage and environment. The mine's headframe is still standing and marks the spot from afar. Around it you can see coloured earth, large open-cast pits and remains of industrial heritage such as headframes, chimneys, furnaces and washeries. The foundation also organises guided routes on foot or by vehicle through the range.
