B&M Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music
The B&M Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music is a non-profit museum and cultural centre in central Athens, housed in the Rentis Mansion, a protected 1920s building designed by the architect Vassilios Tsagris. The building, in an eclectic interwar style with Art Nouveau influences, was acquired by the foundation in 2005 and opened to the public on 5 December 2007 with a retrospective of the painter Spyros Papaloukas. Its collection includes a series of works by Papaloukas donated in 2006 by the artist's daughter, Mina Papaloukas. The museum presents a permanent collection of works by Papaloukas and a broad events programme that includes temporary exhibitions, concerts, seminars and training courses. Its regular activities include exhibitions, concerts, guided tours, talks and lectures on music and the visual arts, with special attention to educating and familiarising young people with the arts. The building has function rooms and educational programmes for all ages, a catering area, and is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
