Iglesia de San Pedro de Alcántara
Church built between 1860 and 1869 as the chapel of the Colonia Agrícola de San Pedro de Alcántara, founded by Manuel Gutiérrez de la Concha, Marquis of Duero. It was inaugurated with a solemn Mass on 22 August 1869. A fire during the Civil War, in 1936, required a restoration directed by the diocesan architect Enrique Atencia, which returned the church to worship in 1943; on 1 January 1944 it was raised to a parish, having previously depended on the Encarnación of Marbella. It has a plan of three naves separated by round arches on cruciform pillars, a barrel vault in the central nave, groin vaults in the side ones and a hemispherical dome over the main chapel. The altar is presided over by the image of Saint Peter of Alcántara, from the former convent of the Catalinas in Málaga. It gives its name to the square where it stands, the centre of the San Pedro Alcántara district.
