Alcázar of Toledo
The Alcázar of Toledo is an imposing square-plan fortress with four 60-metre towers, located at the highest point of the city. Inside it houses the Army Museum, which traces Spain's military history, and the Library of Castilla-La Mancha. Visitors can tour themed halls such as the bladed weapons hall, devoted to Toledo's sword-making tradition, the firearms hall with 20th-century pieces, the Model Room with reproductions of the building before and after the Civil War siege, and Moscardó's office, preserved as it was in 1936. You can also visit the crypt where the remains of some of the Alcázar's defenders rest. The building, declared an asset of cultural interest, preserves architectural elements from different periods, from its Roman origins to the 20th-century reconstructions.
