Saladillo Tower
The Saladillo Tower is a 16th-century watchtower (torre almenara) beside Saladillo beach, in Estepona. Built in 1575, it is circular in plan, about 11 metres high and with a perimeter of roughly 23 metres. Inside it preserves a room with a fireplace and a brick dome, as well as a staircase and a terrace. On the outside, a machicolation facing north above the door stands out. It was part of the coastal watch system of the Andalusian Mediterranean coast and is declared a Site of Cultural Interest (Bien de Interés Cultural). Seven towers of this type survive on the Estepona coast.
