Calderstones Park

At Calderstones Park, visitors can explore the Calderstones, six Neolithic sandstone monoliths that formed part of a burial monument some 4,000 years old. The park is home to the Allerton Oak, an ancient oak tree under whose branches, according to legend, the old local Hundred Court used to meet. Besides its historic features, the park has a botanic garden, a lake with geese and ducks, children's play areas and a Georgian mansion that is now home to an organisation dedicated to literature. There is also a dry nature reserve created on the site of a former municipal depot.
