Braschi Palace
Palazzo Braschi is a neoclassical building located between Piazza Navona, Campo de' Fiori and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. Its main entrance is on Via San Pantaleo and leads into an oval vestibule that gives onto a monumental staircase supported by eighteen red granite columns from the gallery that Emperor Caligula had beside the Tiber, decorated with ancient sculptures and stuccoes by Luigi Acquisti inspired by the myth of Achilles. Inside there is a quadrangular courtyard from which the museum is entered, and the building houses the Museo di Roma, devoted to the city's history from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, as well as a collection of antique carriages. Outside, on the south-west corner of the palace, stands the statue of Pasquino.
