Zōshigaya Cemetery is a 10-hectare non-denominational public cemetery in Minami-Ikebukuro, Tokyo. Founded in 1874, it holds the graves of many notable figures from Japanese culture, including novelist Natsume Sōseki, writer Lafcadio Hearn and Japan's first qualified female doctor, Ogino Ginko. The grounds keep a natural, near-woodland setting, with old zelkova trees and tall ginkgos providing beautiful autumn colour. It is a popular spot for walkers and for those visiting the graves of historical figures.
