Basilica of Saint-Denis
At the Basilica of Saint-Denis, visitors walk through the royal necropolis where the remains of most of France's kings and queens rest, with tombs and funerary monuments spanning from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. The building is recognised as the first example of Gothic architecture, with a choir that marked the start of the style and stained-glass windows that symbolise the theology of light. Inside, visitors can admire the organ built by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll in 1840, considered a prototype of the French Romantic organ and used for concerts and recordings. During the visit, it is possible to see the reconstruction work on the tower and north spire, which is included in the monument's tour route.
