St Peter's Church
St Peter's Church (Peterskirche) is a neo-Gothic Lutheran parish church located on Gaudigplatz in Leipzig. Opened in 1882, it has the city's tallest tower, at 87 metres, and its exterior is richly decorated with stained-glass windows and a large portal on the west side. Besides its religious function, it also serves as a concert venue. The current building replaced an earlier church built in 1507, which after the Reformation was abandoned and used as a warehouse and barracks before finally being demolished in 1886. The church suffered damage during the Second World War and was restored in the 1970s, 1990s and 2000s.
