Parc du 26e Centenaire
The Parc du 26e Centenaire, also known as the Grand parc du 26e centenaire Jean-Claude Gaudin, is a 10.5-hectare public park in Marseille's 8th arrondissement, on the site of the former Prado railway station. Opened after works that began in 1999, it retains railway remnants such as the platform terrace and a shed converted into a refreshment stand. Visitors will find a canal with 26 water jets, a 3,000 m² lake with a belvedere offering views of the Saint-Cyr hills and the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde, and four themed gardens: a terraced Provençal garden, an Arab-Andalusian-style Oriental garden, an African garden with dunes, and a Japanese-inspired Asian garden. The park has been listed as a Jardin remarquable by the French Ministry of Culture since 2005. It has children's play areas, water features, a pétanque pitch, a restaurant and a refreshment stand.
