Observatory Fountain
CultureVisit: ~15 min
Monumental fountain in the Marco Polo garden, on the axis linking the Luxembourg Gardens with the Paris Observatory. It was inaugurated in the 1870s, designed by the architect Gabriel Davioud. A group of four figures, the work of Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, holds up an armillary sphere and represents the parts of the world, while bronze horses by Emmanuel Frémiet surround the basin.
