Botanical Garden of the University of Leipzig
At the Botanical Garden of the University of Leipzig, visitors can explore 3.5 hectares with around 7,000 plant species arranged in thematic collections, including plants from the steppes of Eastern Europe and Asia, forests of the northern hemisphere, meadows, regional flora and an alpine garden with species from Asia, Europe and South America. The greenhouses, with a total area of 2,400 m², house plants from subtropical and tropical zones of the Mediterranean region, Africa, Central America and Australia, and a butterfly house can also be visited. The garden has a marsh pond with aquatic and wetland plants, as well as a systematics department and geographic arrangements that let visitors observe the botanical diversity of different regions of the world.
