Maria Vitória Theatre
The Teatro Maria Vitória is a historic theatre in Parque Mayer, Lisbon's old theatre district. Opened in 1922, it was the first of the four theatres in the area and has been devoted mainly to the Portuguese revista, a musical and satirical genre. Figures such as Amália Rodrigues, who made her debut as an actress in 1940, and the actor Raul Solnado in the 1960s passed through its stage. After a fire in 1986, it was rebuilt and reopened in 1990. Until the pandemic of 2020, it was the only theatre in Lisbon that kept the revista as regular programming. Visitors can attend revista shows and discover a key place in the history of entertainment in Portugal.
