Old Town Square
In Old Town Square in Prague, visitors find a mix of architectural styles, such as the Gothic Church of Our Lady before Týn and the Baroque Church of St Nicholas, as well as the famous Astronomical Clock mounted on the Old Town Hall. The Old Town Hall tower is open to the public and offers panoramic views over the Old Town. At the centre of the square stands the Jan Hus Memorial, and in front of the Old Town Hall there are crosses set into the pavement commemorating those executed after the Battle of White Mountain. At Christmas and Easter, the square hosts traditional markets with stalls, a decorated tree and a music stage, drawing crowds of locals and visitors alike. On occasion, public events such as hockey and football matches shown on giant screens are held, as well as New Year celebrations and protests.
