The Church of Saint-Gervais-Saint-Protais, in the Marais district, stands on the foundations of a 4th-century basilica, making it the oldest parish on the Right Bank of the Seine. Visitors can admire its façade, considered the earliest example of French Baroque style in Paris, as well as its Gothic interior with 16th-century stained glass, 17th-century sculptures and modern stained-glass windows by Sylvie Gaudin and Claude Courageux. Inside, the historic organ played by Louis and François Couperin is preserved, along with the old carved wooden choir stalls. The church is now home to the Monastic Fraternities of Jerusalem, who hold liturgies and moments of prayer open to anyone wishing to take part.
