At the British Music Experience, visitors move through galleries that trace the history of British popular music from 1945 to the present day, exploring how youth culture, politics and technology have shaped the country's great musical moments. The museum holds an extensive collection of iconic objects such as stage costumes, instruments, handwritten lyrics and memorabilia from artists like David Bowie, the Spice Girls, Coldplay and Amy Winehouse, accompanied by images and videos on an interactive timeline. In the interactive zones, visitors can learn to play guitar, drums or keyboard in the Gibson Interactive Studio, dance through the decades in Dance the Decades, and try out their voice in the Vocal Booth. The museum also runs workshops, temporary exhibitions and public events exploring particular bands or musical movements, as well as educational activities for school groups.
