Cross Island
Cross Island, also known as Chinal Tekdi, is an uninhabited or sparsely inhabited island in Mumbai Harbour, India. It is home to an oil refinery and several large gas facilities, as well as the ruins of a fortress that occupies almost the entire island. The fortress, possibly built by the Portuguese or the British, has several cannons scattered about, and its upper section offers views over Mumbai Harbour and the buildings of South Mumbai. There is no regular transport or guided tours, but local fishermen can be hired to get there. The island is sparsely inhabited by fishermen and has no natural source of fresh water. At the base of the fortress are brick-and-mortar structures in a ruined state. No activities beyond visiting the ruins and the views are documented.
