Akasaka Palace
CultureVisit: ~90 minFree
Former imperial palace of the crown prince built between 1899 and 1909 to a design by Katayama Tōkuma, now the State Guest House. Visitors walk through the main entrance and the central staircase, as well as state rooms such as the Asahi Room, the Sairan, the Hagoromo and the Kachō, and can see the Japanese-style annexe Yūshintei. The complex covers 117,000 m² and includes a garden with a fountain; the main building, the main gate and that garden were declared a National Treasure in 2009. A path of about 3.25 km runs around the outside of the grounds, and the nearest station is Yotsuya.
