The lighthouse of the Port of Málaga, built in 1817 at the end of the eastern pier, is one of the few lighthouses in Spain with a feminine name: locals call it 'la Farola'. It has given its name to the seafront promenade around it, alongside Muelle Uno and Malagueta Beach, and is one of the symbols of the city.
