Pestsäule
CultureVisit: ~15 min
Baroque Trinity column erected on the Graben in memory of the plague epidemic of 1679, which caused thousands of deaths in Vienna. Emperor Leopold I ordered it built as a vow of gratitude, and it was inaugurated in 1693. It stands out for its cloud-like shape, for the figures of angels and saints, and for the sculpture of the emperor kneeling in prayer.
