Iglesia de San Pedro y San Pablo
The church of San Pedro and San Pablo stands on the Carrera del Darro, opposite the Casa de Castril, beside the river and at the foot of the Alhambra. It was built between 1559 and 1567 to a design by Juan de Maeda, in Mudéjar and Renaissance style, on the site of another church that collapsed in 1559 and which in turn occupied the Mosque of the Baths. The Renaissance doorway, from 1589, is attributed to Pedro de Orea. The side facade, finished in 1568, is topped by an Immaculate Conception. It has a Latin-cross plan, ten chapels, Mudéjar ceilings by Juan Vílchez and a Baroque organ. In the main chapel there is a tabernacle by Diego de Siloé, moved from the cathedral in 1614. It preserves Granada religious sculpture, with works attributed to or linked with Pedro de Mena and José de Mora, and a sixteenth-century Flemish panel of the Flagellation. It is a Site of Cultural Interest.
