Mita

Mita is a district in central Tokyo, in Minato, that still bears traces of its past as an area of daimyo residences during the Edo period. Today it is an upmarket residential neighbourhood, with embassies, universities and a notable concentration of temples and shrines. Its streets include several historic slopes marked with wooden posts explaining their names, and some of the former daimyo estate gardens have become public parks. The district has no train or metro stations within its boundaries, but is close to several stations on lines such as the Toei Ōedo, Toei Mita, Tokyo Metro Namboku and JR Yamanote.
