Museum opened in 2013 in the former Jewish quarter, opposite the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes. It traces a thousand years of the history of Jews in Poland, from the Middle Ages to the present day. The building, the work of the Finnish architects Lahdelma and Mahlamäki, has a large wave-shaped hollow inside. It is one of Warsaw's essential museums.
