Golden Buddha (Wat Traimit)
CultureVisit: ~45 min
A temple in Yaowarat, near Hua Lamphong station, that houses the solid gold Buddha: about five and a half tonnes of gold and about three metres tall, in the Sukhothai style. Its story is famous: it was covered in stucco for centuries and in 1955 part of the layer came away when it was moved, revealing the gold. It is housed in a multi-storey marble pavilion.
