Yoyogi National Gymnasium, in Yoyogi Park, is a sports and events venue famous for its innovative suspended roof, designed by Kenzo Tange and built for the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. It consists of two gymnasiums: the first, with a capacity of 12,898, and the second, known as the Annex, for 4,002. Today it is used for sports such as basketball, handball and table tennis, and also as a concert hall. The building was designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan in 2021 and has inspired other architectural works. Visitors can admire its architecture, attend sporting events or concerts, and explore the surrounding park.
