The largest park in central Barcelona, laid out where the Bourbon military citadel built after 1714 once stood. It was turned into a park for the 1888 Universal Exposition. It is home to the Parliament of Catalonia, the Zoo, a lake with rowing boats and the monumental Cascade, designed by Josep Fontserè with the collaboration of the young Antoni Gaudí. The Arc de Triomf and the Ribera district are very close by.
