Grótta
NatureVisit: ~75 min
Tiny island at the tip of the Seltjarnarnes peninsula, in western Reykjavik, with a lighthouse and a bird reserve. The island can only be reached on foot at low tide, crossing a strip of land; at high tide it is cut off. For that reason you should check the tide tables before going. Between 1 May and 15 July access is closed because of bird nesting. It is a good place to watch the sunset and the northern lights.
