Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium
The Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium is a covered sports arena in Namba, Osaka. It first opened in 1952, and the current building was built in 1987. For visitors, its best-known use is hosting a professional sumo tournament (honbasho) every March, with a capacity of 8,000 people. It has also hosted numerous professional wrestling shows, such as Osaka Hurricane (2005–2012), NJPW Dominion (2009–2014), NJPW Power Struggle (since 2011) and The New Beginning in Osaka (since 2012). It has also held mixed martial arts events, such as Rizin 19 in 2019, and lethwei events, such as Japan 15 – Kizuna in 2023. It is within walking distance of several stations: Namba Station (Nankai Electric Railway, 250 m from the south exit; Osaka Metro, 350 m from Exit 5), Ōsaka Namba Station (Kintetsu Namba and Hanshin Namba lines, 600 m) and JR Namba Station (Kansai Main/Yamatoji line, 800 m).
