Church of El Salvador

The Church of El Salvador in Seville stands on the square of the same name and is notable for its Baroque architecture, with a Mannerist-influenced main façade and an interior conceived as a great rectangular hall with gilded columns and an octagonal dome on a drum. Behind the main altarpiece is a small museum displaying paintings, mainly from the 17th-century Sevillian school, and other artistic objects. The bell tower retains remains of the old minaret of the Ibn Adabbás mosque, built in the 9th century, allowing visitors to trace the building's evolution from its Islamic origins to its transformation into a Christian church after the conquest of Seville. The church is home to several significant Holy Week brotherhoods, including the Brotherhood of the Sacred Entry into Jerusalem, Christ of Love and Our Lady of Succour.
