Julio Romero de Torres Museum (Museo de Julio Romero de Torres)
The museum occupies part of the former Hospital de la Caridad, in the Plaza del Potro, and shares a building with the Fine Arts Museum. It opened in 1931, a year after the death of the Cordoban painter, and has been refurbished three times, the last in 2012. It brings together works by Julio Romero de Torres dated between 1895 and 1930, from his family's donation. Among them are Cante hondo, Naranjas y limones and La chiquita piconera, as well as Poema a Córdoba. Alongside the canvases are the artist's personal belongings, such as palettes, brushes and his library, and part of the furniture from his Madrid studio. The visit is organised in six rooms and follows the painter's life and career, with his symbolic vision of Andalusian women and of the city. It is a few steps from the Guadalquivir.
