Dubai Museum (Al Fahidi Fort)
Al Fahidi Fort, from 1787, is the oldest surviving building in Dubai, beside the creek, in Bur Dubai. It was a residence of the rulers, a prison and an arsenal before becoming a museum of traditional pre-oil life. It has been closed for a thorough restoration since 2021 and its reopening, with six new galleries and an underground extension, has been announced as imminent.
