Puppet Museum
It occupies the vaults of the Puertas de Tierra, the old fortification that closes off Cádiz at the isthmus, and has around 1,500 square metres spread over 18 restored vaults between the ground floor and the first floor. Its aim is to exhibit, document and preserve the memory of the world of puppeteers: companies, craftspeople and creators from Spain and abroad. The permanent exhibition, Marionetas del Mundo, brings together more than 500 pieces, around 350 of them international, which the City Council bought in 2008 from Ismael Peña. In the entrance hall the history of the building and how it was adapted as a museum is explained. It is entered through the courtyard of the former fire station, next to the Puerta de Tierra tower.
