Huerta Otea Botanical Park
Park of almost nine hectares along a kilometre of the Tormes riverbank, one of the city's spaces with the greatest biodiversity of flora and fauna. The City Council has turned it into an Integrated Environmental Centre: a fenced area with a Zen garden and a 250 m² glazed greenhouse, and a renewable energy classroom in the existing building, with a biomass boiler room, educational panels and an exhibition on the history and biodiversity of the park. It is explored along paths of granite gravel, with pergolas on the central axis, three hexagonal granite fountains, insect hotels, nest boxes, ponds with aquatic vegetation and hammocks by the river. The municipal routes also point out a hedge maze, a spiral of aromatic herbs, flower arches and a maple school. It has three entrances, one of them from Calle José Lamano Beneite.
