Church of Santa María la Mayor
The Church of Santa María la Mayor in Ronda stands on the site of the city's former Friday mosque, preserving remains of the mihrab and showing a mix of Gothic and Mannerist styles due to the different phases of its construction over more than two centuries. Inside, visitors find three naves separated by pointed arches and a central choir with carved wooden stalls, as well as a main altarpiece from the late 18th century made of unpainted wood. On the outside, the brick tower with a square base and octagonal upper sections, built on the site of the former minaret, stands out, along with a triple gallery that allowed views of events in the adjoining square.
