MuVIM
The Museu Valencià de la Il·lustració i de la Modernitat is devoted to a key period of European society, from the 18th century to the present day. It occupies a purpose-built building by the architect Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra, with entrances on calle Guillem de Castro and calle Quevedo, in the Velluters district, next to the old Hospital General. Its permanent exhibition, The Adventure of Thought, traces Western culture from the Middle Ages to the present with an interactive approach and is visited in guided sessions offered in Valencian, Spanish, English and French. The museum also offers temporary exhibitions, lectures, screenings, a library, a study centre and educational workshops. Among what can be seen there are a large model of València from 1704, based on the plans of Father Tosca, and archaeological remains of a medieval tower from the late 13th or early 14th century.
