San Miguel Market
San Miguel Market is a food market in the Plaza de San Miguel, next to Madrid's Plaza Mayor. It occupies a historic 1916 building with an iron and glass structure, the only surviving example of this type of ironwork architecture in the city. Inside, more than 20 stalls offer a wide variety of tapas, Iberian ham, fresh seafood brought daily from Galicia, Mediterranean rice dishes and cheeses from Castile, Asturias and the Basque Country. The market has two floors and standing areas with high tables, and lets visitors take in the essence of Spanish cuisine in a lively atmosphere. It opens every day, with extended hours until midnight or 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
