Alameda Park
Parque de la Alameda is an 18th-century historic garden in central Marbella, between the old town and the seafront promenade. It originally covered around 20,000 m², 20% of the town's built-up area at the time, and was designed as a leisure space for the city's residents. Its original layout consisted of a central avenue flanked by two side avenues, with six roundabouts fitted with masonry benches and a central fountain that still survives. At the heart of the park stands a magnificent ceramic fountain from 1792 known as the Fuente de la Virgen del Rocío, surrounded by benches decorated with typical Andalusian tiles. The flora includes several varieties of ficus, notably a magnificent Ficus Pandurata, along with conifers such as Pinus pinea and some rare and valuable botanical species. Winding paths invite visitors to stroll slowly and discover picturesque corners. During the 19th and early 20th centuries, the Alameda was the social hub of Marbella, hosting events, fairs and popular celebrations. The park is open 24 hours a day and admission is free.
