Dalí Sculptures

Marbella's Avenida del Mar is a marble-paved pedestrian promenade, decorated with wooden pergolas and benches, linking the historic centre to the seafront promenade and ending at the Mediterranean. Along its length stand ten large-format sculptures attributed to Salvador Dalí, installed in 1998. Each piece is more than two metres tall and weighs between 200 and 400 kg. The works include Nude Woman Climbing the Stairs, Horse with Stumbling Rider, Mercury, Perseus, Seated Don Quixote, Pregnant Gala, Gala Looking Out of the Window, Trajan on Horseback, Man on a Dolphin and Cosmic Elephant. The ensemble, known as an open-air museum, is freely accessible and has become an icon of the city and a tourist attraction.
