San Telmo Aqueduct
The San Telmo Aqueduct runs for more than ten kilometres from the Guadalmedina river to Málaga, combining rural and urban stretches with a complex network of bridges, tunnels, distribution tanks (alcubillas) and historic mills linked to the channel. Along its route, visitors can see structures such as the Arroyo Humaina Bridge, seventy-five metres long and fifteen metres high, the Arroyo Hondo Bridge, and the San Telmo Mills, which retain their original brick and masonry architecture. The channel features different sections and technical solutions, such as a covered channel for drinking water and an open irrigation channel, adapting to the irregular terrain with bridges and steeply inclined drops. In the urban stretch, some of the most notable aqueduct bridges survive, along with the main distribution tank on Calle Refino, which supplied water to public and private fountains in the city.
