Church of the Annunciation

CultureVisit: ~30 minFree

Seventeenth-century Renaissance church in Santander's old town, near Plaza Porticada and the cathedral. Its façade follows Jesuit models of Vignolesque root, with two storeys, a round-arched portal flanked by double pilasters, a niche with an image of the Virgin and Baroque coats of arms of the marquises who helped complete it. Inside, a single nave with side chapels joined by round arches, a dome with a lantern over the crossing and a wooden high altarpiece with paintings and polychromy. It was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural in 1992.
