The most central and crowded beach in Barcelona, in front of the seafaring district of Barceloneta, which was built from 1753 to rehouse residents expelled by the construction of the citadel. The beach was reclaimed for the city with the waterfront remodelling ahead of the 1992 Olympic Games. It has a seafront promenade, beach bars and views of the Olympic port and the W Hotel.
