Three Waters by Cristina Iglesias
Tres Aguas is a series by Cristina Iglesias made up of three sculptural pools spread across Toledo. Each piece has a metallic bed imitating a riverbed and a filling and emptying system that reproduces a river's variations in flow. One is in an 18th-century tower beside the Tagus, within the Technological Campus of the Antigua Fábrica de Armas; another occupies a minimalist room designed by the artist in the Convent of Santa Clara la Real, with an opening in the floor; and the third is in the open air in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, between the Cathedral, the Town Hall and the Archbishop's Palace, and is the most elongated, reflecting the nearby buildings. The set symbolises the three cultures that lived side by side along the Tagus.
