Kallang River
The Kallang River runs for about 10 kilometres from the Lower Peirce Reservoir to the Kallang Basin, passing through areas such as Bishan and Toa Payoh before reaching the Marina Channel. Along its course you can follow the Kallang Park Connector, a recreational corridor running parallel to the river, and Kallang Riverside Park, which occupies both banks near the mouth. The Kolam Ayer stretch, landscaped in 2007, has greenery, walkways and floating jetties, with a water wheel as its centrepiece and a constant water level that allows kayaking and dragon boating. Upstream, in Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, the channel was renaturalised with planted banks that invite you to get close to the water. The river also keeps a historical link with the Orang Kallang tribe and with Bugis trade, and since 2008 it has formed part of the Marina Reservoir catchment.
