A small building shaped like a hexagonal castle with turrets at the corners, located on the Paseo de las Delicias, next to the entrance of María Luisa Park. Built in 1893 to a design by the architect Juan Talavera y de la Vega, it is considered the first Neo-Mudéjar building in Seville, with large windows in the Arab tradition. It was built on the commission of the Duke of Montpensier as a guard post and home for the forest keeper of the San Telmo gardens, under the original name of Pabellón de San Telmo. Its popular name comes from a legend with no historical basis, according to which Queen María de las Mercedes, wife of Alfonso XII, spent hours there sewing with her ladies; the legend does not hold up because the queen died in 1878, fifteen years before the building was constructed. After a restoration in 2007, the building now serves as a municipal tourist information office, with free access to the ground floor.
