Pasaje Begoña

Pasaje Begoña is an urban passage in Torremolinos (Málaga) that was a hub of LGBT nightlife during the Franco era. On the night of 25–26 June 1971 it was the scene of a major police raid that resulted in 300 people being identified and 119 arrested, and the closure of 23 venues. Today it is a site of historical memory, declared a 'Place of Tourist Interest' by the Regional Government of Andalusia. Visitors can walk through the passage and see replicas of five historic illuminated signs unveiled in 2021, evoking iconic venues such as The Blue Note, Pia Beck, Le Fiacre Club, Stonewall Inn and Pulse. The site where Tony's Bar once stood, considered the first gay bar in Spain, can also be identified. The space is managed by the Asociación Pasaje Begoña, which promotes its restoration and memory.
