Calle Marqués de Larios

Calle Marqués de Larios, known as Calle Larios, is a pedestrian street in Málaga's historic centre, opened in 1891. It is lined with symmetrical late-19th-century buildings designed by Eduardo Strachan, with curved corners inspired by the Chicago School, whose lines of balconies and cornices converge at a vanishing point. The street hosts events throughout the year: at Christmas, the 'Ángeles Celestiales' (Celestial Angels) installation (since 2022) with 16 four-metre figures on 32 columns and daily light-and-sound shows; in September, the Larios Málaga Fashion Week catwalk, a 350 m haute-couture runway; in August, the Feria de día; and during Holy Week, the official route of the religious brotherhoods. It has also hosted public art exhibitions, including works by Manolo Valdés, Baltasar Lobo and Auguste Rodin. At the start of the street stands the sculptural group by Mariano Benlliure dedicated to the Marqués de Larios.
