Navigation Pavilion
The Navigation Pavilion is a building constructed for Seville's 1992 Universal Exposition, designed by the Sevillian architect Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra, which received a mention at the 2nd Spanish Architecture Biennial. It stands on the bank of the Guadalquivir, on the Isla de la Cartuja, and its architecture evokes the world of ports with curved metal roofs and timber beams. The complex includes a viewing tower about 60 metres high, separate from the main building, offering panoramic views of the city. From 2012 it operated as a museum space devoted to Atlantic navigation, with rooms recreating life on board, a mural by Gabriel Pacheco and historical models. However, the permanent exhibition has now come to the end of its run and the building is currently not open to the public, as it undergoes a redefinition of its operating model.
